Mid September, 2026. I had an hour or so left of the day to explore the main creek in this part of the Colorado Holy Cross Wilderness, so I found a spot to park and made my way through the brush to a clear picturesque mountain stream. I decided to use a western fly rod with a big dry fly for this one because why not. My fly of choice as almost always when selecting a big dry fly was a purple mini chubby chernobyl #12. On the first cast I hooked a pretty wild brown trout and that was not a curse:) The fish in this creek were hungry!
