A creek, a stick, and a dry fly

End of June, 2026. I explored a new Colorado creek, caught a few brook trout, and enjoyed a peaceful morning in the forest.

There have been some long awaiting but a bit destructive heavy rains that left the local creeks and rivers a bit muddied, so I headed up the mountain in search for new creeks. I ended up fishing a beautiful one with plenty of brook trout. I even had a little time to fly fish an alpine lake and catch my first tiger trout (last photo).

I ended up fly fishing an alpine lake for a bit and caught my first tiger trout! Tiger trout are a hybrid between a brown and a brook trout. Since they are sterile and cannot reproduce, and are very predatory, they sometimes get stocked in lakes to control unwanted fish populations. They are fun to catch too!
